Calling all right-thinking Edinburgh people

Spike Milligan's Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall at the Lyceum, early part of October.

Who's going?

Balkanizing the blogosphere for fun and profit

The actual exodus to Dreamwidth seems to have begun. I've had a play around on the site, and it looks pretty reasonable; it already does several things significantly better than LJ. And it could be a lot worse. It could be DreamWidth.

[info]spudtater's post here (which is the same as [info]spudtater's post here, I think) contains some pretty good suggestions on how to handle the transition. If I'm doing this right, you should be able to read this post on LJ, just like we all did in the old days, when the internet was built out of tin cans and string, and before LJ sold us all to the Russian Mafia, or whatever it was that they did.

Dreamwidth posts from yr. corresp. are syndicated at [info]gominokouhai_fd for those who want to continue reading me on LJ, although I'm not sure how well that will handle friends-locking. Let's find out.

Mockney prats, normal people, and meat sauce

This week on Kamikaze Cookery, I get into a fight with Jamie Oliver (figuratively speaking).

The usual deal. Go, watch, comment, tell your friends.

Normal blogging service will be resumed in my Copious Free Time. Right now, I am busy making a cookery show. And, y'know, working.

On eventual success

Behold, for The Perfect Steak is now available at Kamikaze Cookery dot com.

That is to say, the episode regarding the perfect steak is now available. You can't download the actual steak through the internet. I'm still working on that bit.

Go, watch, comment. Tell your friends. Subscribe to the RSS feed. And come back next week for more.

Luna? But I hardly... oh, wait, I've done that one

Lunar eclipse tonight, entering penumbra at 1.43 am (GMT) with totality from about threeish. The Americans should get a lightshow at a slightly more reasonable time of the evening. I'll get one just before dawn, when I shall most likely still be up anyway. I have Firefly to rewatch.

(I have, it seems, done that joke already, but no eclipse post would be complete without a link.)

EDIT: ...and it's cloudy. Buggeration.

Erratum

I lied earlier. Haunted Scotland is on the 23rd November. This Monday is the sassenach version, which I'm not in.

It is the policy of gominokouhai dot livejournal dot come to correct errors as soon as is practicable, unless doing so would be really, really embarrassing, in which case the policy is to claim that the fault lies with reality's noncompliance with the facts as stated herein.

That fucking daemon viral-marketing meme

You are all worthless corporate whores.

No. If you're being paid for it then you're worthless corporate whores. If you're not then you're mindless corporate sluts.

Enough now.

For [info]stormsearch

Today is 24th April, 2007.

In case anyone's missed it

Lunar eclipse tonight: totality between 2244 and 2358 GMT.

The forecast for Edinburgh is cloudy, natch.

See also these awesome pictures from STEREO-B of the Moon's transit across the Sun. The two bodies are different sizes from this distance: no one on Earth has ever seen these pictures before.

(Except for the several million people who linked to this before I did, obviously.)

Machinima, doo doo, doo doo doo

Bloodspell, episode the last. Shocking revelations! Tear-jerking drama! Epic fight scenes! Me, actually acting!

Next, Hugh plays World of Warcraft for six weeks or so and then we make the feature-length version. I shall be called back at some stage to do a director's cut, special edition, extended version of the Creepy Opening Monologue.

And now, off to the wrap party.

I want to thank my agent, and my makeup artist, and my hairdresser....

So sad, it ends, As it beeegan

And thus does my mysteriously donated period of paid-accounthood draw to a close.

I still have no idea who it was what dun it. Was it you what dun it? Own up.

Anyway, thanks.

They do the sand dance don't you know

Discovered this collection of 80s music videos. My research indicates that most are fairly poor-quality flash files, but the music is there. Enjoy.

Possibly interesting how anachronism seems to be a running theme....

(mmm, Susanna Hoffs.)

PSA

The next person to post about Johari bloody Windows will be hunted down and killed.

That's quite enough, folks. If you're all so curious about what people think of you, then we have this thing called `conversation'.

I shall be away for a few days; back Friday evening. It may take me a day or two to catch up on LJ once I get back. In the meantime, feel free to phone me or text me if you feel there's something I should know, or if there's something you feel I should be a part of.

A very happy arbitrary rollover (and excuse for extreme alcoholism) to everyone[0]. May the next orbit bring good, or at least relatively less shite, things to us all.

Arr, mateys

Sailing for a whole week!

Okay, five days.

If you want to get in touch with me before Friday, well, you can't. As a concession I promise that, despite my outgoing message, I will actually listen to messages on my answerphone this week, during those brief moments I am close enough to civilisation to get a signal.

Which reminds me: Martin, you're Acting Cascade Co-ordinator again. Maybe you should email that Mark guy and tell him about the mailing lists, because I forgot. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then it's probably not vital.

There goes me, pretending I'm important. I'm sure society will survive without me for five days.

Not sure if I'll survive five days without broadband, though.

I shall return on Friday and will likely have many a sea-story to tell. Avast ye.

And I shall leave you with this: www.khaaan.com

One of us. One of us. One of us.

Gooble gobble!

SWMBO is hereafter to be known as [info]stormsearch.

Any bitching and/or whining that I have to do about my girlfriend is still going to go on the LJ, in the spirit of journalistic integrity, of course. However, I don't see that happening any time soon.

Tue, Jan. 6th, 2004, 05:08 pm
And thus it begins

So I finally bowed to peer pressure and signed myself up to LJ. In my defence, I was drunk at the time.

I have no idea what sort of thing is going to appear on here---as [info]digitalraven said, I'm sure I'll find my niche. In the meantime, there will probably be a good deal of ranting about work.

I'm currently all alone in the hotel with a three-inch thick stack of bank statements looking at me accusingly as I procrastinate rather than process them. And I just posted that to a globally accessible webpage. And my boss is fairly tech-savvy[0], although at the moment he's unaware of my secret identity.

Just got a text message from Jehane[1] to the effect that she's looking through her flatmate's birthday present---one of those dreadful books on sex. Apparently it contains more information that anyone would ever need to know about fisting. Both front and back. I'm not sure whether I should be annoyed that she's having more fun than me, or relieved that I'm not there.

[0] Usually, this is something of a blessing. But don't get me started about the time I came into work to find him editing the webpage in Word.
